Annette’s School of Dance was born out Annette’s love of dance and her desire to teach what she loved. Based in Cwmbran since it was established in 1983, the school has taught many hundreds of students over the years, some who only stay a few terms, and some who stay many years.
Annette was one of the first Dance Teachers in the country to graduate with the government recognised dance teaching qualifications ‘Diploma in Dance Teaching’, in both Ballet and Tap, and also the ‘Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector in Dance’, a new Government recognised qualification for teaching in FE Colleges and Vocational Dance Schools.
We hold classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Musical Theatre and Contemporary dance to the BBOdance (formally the British Ballet Organization) to ages 3 to 60+ is a 5 days a week. Fully accredited (by OFQUAL) examinations sessions are scheduled for the summer terms, and an annual spectacular show is held every December in the Congress Theatre. On top of these activities, the school also runs trips to the theatre (London and Cardiff) at least once a year, as well as a host of events and fun days to help pay for the annual show. We also fit in trips to external dance courses and workshops, as well as exhibitions (such as MoveIt in London).
On top of all this we have been lucky enough to be asked to perform with a few professional companies, the latest being Pasha Kovalev, off Strictly Come Dancing, on his last two UK tours. A great thrill for the girls, and Annette!
As we approach the school’s 40th Anniversary we are looking forward to following Strictly’s advice, and “Keep Dancing”!Why not join us?
